Sky Blanket 2021
A few weeks ago I started thinking about doing a sky blanket next year. Since then the sky has been putting on a pretty amazing show, almost as if it is telling me that I absolutely must do a sky blanket 2021.
See what I mean?
I have been thinking about how I want to do the blanket. My 2016 one is still a WIP. Admittedly this is mostly because each row is 400 stitches so takes an absolute age (stupid past me). But I am still plodding through it and it will be finished one day.

For 2021, I have decided to do granny squares. That way, if I miss a day, it isn’t too hard to catch up. I haven’t quite decided what colour I will join them with, but I suspect it will be white.
The plan is to use yarn from my stash, at least to start with. I have plenty of greys, because let’s face it, this is the UK, but also have some blues, pinks and oranges.
Currently the idea is that I will do a square each day. They don’t take that long and it’s good for my brain to have a few minutes creating. However, I know myself well enough to know that I will inevitably miss the odd day, possibly even within the first week. My plan is to write the colour I want to use in my diary each day, which will also help me get the right order when I join the squares.
Are you planning to join me in making a Sky Blanket 2021? You could knit, crochet, weave, quilt, whatever! I’ve set up a group on Facebook for moral support, so come and join me there and we can get excited together!
