Me Made May 2019 Week 2

I’m a couple of days late with my Me Made May 2019 week 2 round up this week. I blame year six SATs (GAH) and ninth birthdays (YAY). It has been busy round here! At least the birthday involved some sewing – two sets of new pyjamas for the birthday girl.

Anyhoo, time to see what I wore last week…

Monday 6th May

Every year on May Day Bank Holiday, our entire village head up to the woods to cook breakfast on the biggest barbecues you’ve ever seen. This is only our second May here, but it’s a tradition we whole heartedly approve of and participate in. Unfortunately this year wasn’t as warm as last year, so I chose to wear my woodland Hot Coffee hoody from Made By Jack’s Mum. It seemed appropriate for a trip to the woods, but ironically I am drinking a hot cup of tea in this photo.

Tuesday 7th May

Over the bank holiday I made myself a new skirt. I’ve been sewing for years, and have finally conquered my fear of button holes. I am no longer afraid – my machine does them itself and it is like actual magic.

I used the Rosari Skirt from Pauline Alice Patterns. Annoyingly my two packs of 4 denim buttons yielded me 7 buttons and 9 backs, so the top button is missing. That didn’t stop me wearing my shiny new skirt today though.

Wednesday 8th May

Another Hot Coffee hoody. This was the first one I ever made and I love it. My only regret is that I didn’t put a pocket on it – a mistake I have not repeated on subsequent makes.

Thursday 9th May

Today’s Me Made item was a Cottesloe Cowl jumper from Made By Jack’s Mum. It is so comfy and perfect for snuggling in when you have been soaked to the bone by the ridiculous rain that wasn’t forecast. I make and wear a lot of MBJM stuff (as do the rest of my family). Her patterns are so good to make and wear. If you haven’t discovered them yet you should go and take a look. I’m not being paid to say that, it’s my genuine opinion.

Friday 10th May

Friday is Pilates day for me. This Spoxxy tank top is perfect to wear to class.

Saturday 11th May

I do love weekends spent pottering around the house and garden. I managed to spend some of Saturday in my greenhouse, yet again channelling Barbara from the Good Life. It’s clearly working though, as my cucumbers, broccoli and sweetcorn are coming on nicely. Today my dungarees were paired with a stripy Kirsten Kimono Tee from Maria from Denmark.

Sunday 12th May

I’m beginning to realise that there is an issue with my plan to wear one entire Me Made outfit each week. Most of my handmade items are tops: jumpers, t-shirts, vests. My Penelope Pinafore made another appearance today, this time teamed with my cactus Kirsten Kimono tee.

I’m pretty sure that makes Me Made May 2019 week 2 another success. Apart from my Penelope Pinafore, I have yet to repeat wear an item which makes me happy. I had forgotten just how many items of clothing I had made myself. All I need to do now is add some trousers, but now I’ve mastered button holes, I don’t really have an excuse, do I?

I have used links to the pattern designer’s own pages throughout this post. I am not rewarded if you click them, I just like to share the love.
