rustic twine table mats

After a couple of quiet weeks I have had a burst of creativity, and there are lots of projects on the go. In complete contrast to the gorgeously soft granny square baby blanket I finished a couple of days ago, I have been working with rough tough twine.

Yes, twine.

This roll of twine decided it wanted to become some table mats. Not like the pretty doily like string table mats but something more rugged. More rustic.

The twine is thick and tough. I won’t lie, it hurts the hands, but I love the look of the table mats I made last night. They remind me of ones we had when I was a kid.

I have some twine left over so once my fingers have recovered I will be making matching coasters in the next few days.
